Montezuma, Costa Rica
We tried to catch the 3:30AM bus from Monteverde to Puntarenas ... didn't happen. So we caught the 6AM bus instead. A very bumpy, 3 hour bus ride, and we're at the port of Puntarenas where we waited for about 2 hours to board the next ferry. We took the ferry over to Paquera, then another bumpy CROWDED bus from Paquera to Montezuma.
8 hours later, we're here- Montezuma!
The town of Montezuma is a very small beach town on the Nicoya Peninsula. The vibe is relaxed and the beach is pretty.
We stayed at the Pura Vida Hostel. The people at the hostel are very nice.. the room ehhh- its what you would expect for $10 a night. There was a giant cockroach on our wall. It was HUGE.
A Menacing little monkey kept following us on the electrical line
Monday night we splurged on beachside dinner and sangria
Tuesday morning we made breakfast in the hostel and headed out. We took a boat to the nearby island of Tortuga where we snorkeled, napped on the beach, and drank cerveza.
I banged my knee on the reef trying to look at some of the local nurse sharks ... if it scars I could always say I got it while I was diving for sharks. Awesome:)
Back to Montezuma for some dinner- tonight was casado (typical costa rican dish) at a local restaurant down the street from our hostel. The food was so fresh, the cook mentioned to us that he had to run to the market to get some things for our dinner.
Dinner was followed by a movie at one of the nearby restaurants. we sat in the back with our cheap Chilean wine :)
Tomorrow we are off to Manuel Antonio!
