My favorite Deli in Puerto Viejo
Puerto Pirata is one of many restaurants in Puerto Viejo that cooks up delicious vegetarian organic food. This is what they call "slow food", which is a term I've seen a lot. Slow food is anything BUT fast food- its made with good ingredients and love :)
Super hippy, I know.
RAW spring rolls made with carrots, cabbage, celery, and fresh mint
Fresh bread with a variety of sauces; guacamole, hummus, curry, and black beans. The bruchetta with fresh tomatoes was amazing and the mini veggie burgers were tasty!
Eggplant, cheese, avocado, ginger soy sauce, all on toasted bread. Yummmm!
I've also come to love Kombucha while living here. The thought of drinking live bacteria has always grossed me out, but the more I learn about the benefits of Kombucha, the easier it is to drink.
This concoction is mixed with ginger. They also have Kombucha beer, and at 6.9% alcohol, after two of these babies I was feeling ... healthy :)
